GROUPE LOUP SUISSE (WOLF SWISS GROUP) - FOUNDER

Working towards coexistence between humans and predators

Founded in 1998 by Jean-Marc Landry, the Swiss Wolf Group is a key player in the protection, study and coexistence with large predators in Switzerland (wolves, lynx, bears). The association is active in the field and also supports breeders who do not receive cantonal or federal subsidies. It is currently working to rehome guard dogs following the discontinuation of the official AGRIDEA program.

Recognized as one of the four major Swiss environmental associations, alongside Pro Natura, Birdlife and WWF, the Swiss Wolf Group plays a central role in the dissemination of rigorous and objective information through various official and media channels.

Eduwolf is part of the same dynamic, extending this commitment through training, education and awareness-raising among the younger generations and the general public.

PRO NATURA VALAIS

Protecting flora and fauna in Valais

A well-known environmental association, it was founded in 1909 and was then called the “Swiss League for the Protection of Nature”. Pro Natura is responsible for the protection of our country's flora and fauna. It acts on several levels, such as the preservation of healthy and natural environments, the purchase of plots of land to reintroduce wildlife and allow biodiversity to grow, the protection of species and nature reserves, and the creation of the Swiss National Park, among other things.

In particular, it was instrumental in the return of the beaver to Switzerland and the creation of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), following an international conference that it organized.

Pro Natura, like the WWF and Birdlife, can appeal against decisions that are not in the best interests of Switzerland's flora and fauna. In the case of the wolf, these organizations helped prevent the new Hunting Act in 2020, avoid numerous shootings (which did not meet the required conditions) and saved 70 wolves during the first phase of proactive regulation, in the winter of 2023/2024.

FAUNA VS

Preserving and promoting biodiversity in Valais

Founded in 1998 by zoologists from Valais, Fauna VS is a bilingual company committed to the scientific management and sustainable protection of native fauna: fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

Thanks to its topographical diversity, the Valais is home to an exceptional biodiversity, which is now under threat, as everywhere else in the world. Fauna VS acts to preserve this natural wealth, raising awareness of the importance of biotopes and working to create a network of habitats of great ecological value.

Its commitment is not limited to conservation: it also highlights the Valais' unique wildlife heritage, as well as its natural landscapes and cultural assets. In this essential field, the expertise of specialists and scientists plays a key role, guaranteeing actions based on rigorous knowledge and a sustainable vision of nature conservation.

WOLFWAYS (USA)

Wolfways: education for a better understanding of wolves

Founded 10 years ago in the United States, Wolfways is an association made up of passionate volunteers, determined to help people discover the true nature of wolves through a scientific lens. Its commitment: to offer free courses to schools and the general public, to transmit science-based knowledge and deconstruct preconceived ideas.

In collaboration with Wolf Haven International and Oregon Wild, the association makes it a point of honor to disseminate rigorous and accessible information. We had the chance to attend two of their talks in American schools, an enriching experience that further strengthens our desire to work hand in hand.

Our collaboration continues across borders, with a common goal: to offer younger generations and the general public, in Europe as well as in the United States, a broader, more informed and objective view of wolves and their essential role in our ecosystems.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the associations and individuals who contributed to the development of the Eduwolf program.

We are delighted with the collaboration and mutual support, which will lead to even more possibilities.
